Geely Social Welfare
Geely vision for social welfare is to “Let the world feel love” with a focus on education and environmental protection. Our social welfare projects cover three areas of public interest – culture, poverty alleviation, and support for the underprivileged. Our targeted social welfare projects follow four core principles in order to solve societal issues, discovering the root of the problem, achieving community integration, promoting the in-depth participation of stakeholders, and developing a sustainable social welfare model.
Geely’s “Timely Rain” Targeted Poverty Alleviation Project
Following the decisive push in the “13th Five-Year Plan” to build a prosperous society, Geely started a new targeted poverty alleviation project. Through Geely’s “Timely Rain” targeted poverty alleviation project, the group plans to invest 400-600 million RMB to help impoverished regions lift themselves out of poverty. The project help impoverished regions by industrializing them, improving education, creating employment opportunities, and assisting rural regions to develop sustainable agricultural cooperative enterprises.
By the end of 2017, the project had invested over 69 million RMB to finance the immediate needs 6484 impoverished households and help find employment for 2555 people. The project also helped develop 13 sustainable specialized agricultural cooperative enterprises launched in 20 villages in 11 counties and districts throughout China. Over 15,000 families have already been lifted out poverty through the project in 9 provinces including Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guizhou, Sichuan, Zhejiang.
“Geely HOPE – Green Pathways” Program
Since 2014, the “Geely HOPE – Green Pathways” program has been helping youths and outstanding students in underprivileged areas all around China obtain fair education and development opportunities.
Through the program, Geely has given funding and supplies to schools in dozens of areas, brought professional sports and physical education courses to schools in far-flung villages, set up recruitment for a national volunteer organization to help underprivileged youths, and provided opportunities to thousands of youths to go on educational field trips. Since 2014, the program has benefited and given hope to kids in 13 primary schools in 12 provinces including Inner Mongolia, Guizhou, Ningxia and Yunnan.
London EV Company "Magic Taxi Tour”
London EV Company (LEVC) “Magic Taxi Tour” charity event takes place each year when a convoy of licensed London taxis take sick children, suffering from a range of chronic debilitating illnesses and life limiting conditions, on a three-day trip of a lifetime to Disneyland Resort Paris. The event was first launched by LEVC previously called London Taxi Company (LTC) in 1994, but discontinued after a while due to LTC financial troubles. After purchasing LTC in 2013, Geely revived the charity event which has since been running for 5 consecutive years.
On October 6, 2017, 100 London taxis carrying more than 200 children and their families traveled from London to Disneyland in Paris. Traveling with the convoy in a fleet up to three miles were police escorts from the City of London, the French National Gendarmerie, the London National Medical Ambulance and the Automobile Association.
